Dumbass President Misses Point

by gunpowderchronicle 16. August 2010 20:52

Preacher in Chief, who can’t miss an opportunity to extract his head from his ass and put his foot in his mouth, is missing a couple of points in rambling adventure on the Ground Zero Mosque mess.

First, “freedom of religion” is NOT absolute in this country.

The Church of Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ was forced to outlaw polygamy before the territory of Utah would be granted statehood.

With the exception of 21 C.F.R. § 1307.31 (which allows the use peyote by the Native American Church in religious ceremonies), religious organizations and orders are not allowed to utilize Schedule 1 narcotics in religious ceremonies.

Snake-charming Pentecostals are regularly arrested.

And there are hundreds of other laws – created by states AND Congress – that limit religious expression.

Second, few if any argue that the Muslims lack the legal right to build a Mosque at that sight. Although, there is a question of property rights, as they only own half the property.  What opponents question is whether government should be accommodating the construction of a Mosque on sacred ground – a place where landing gear from one of the planes landed—by allowing a non-conforming use according to New York City’s zoning laws.

Third, it is not courageous and it is certainly not “leadership” to stand in front of Muslims on Friday night and say what they want to hear, then turn around on Saturday – 1000 miles away – and say, “Wait, that’s not what I meant for you to hear me say!”

If you really want to get buggered by the Muslims, President Barry, it’d be much easier to just drop trou and bend over in front of one.  It’s painful watching you do it on TV.

“There is no teaching to compare with example”

by gunpowderchronicle 11. August 2010 00:19

That quote from Lord  Robert Stevenson-Smyth Baden Powell of Gilwell, British war hero of Mafeking and founder of Scouting, is quite instructive as we watch the drama unfold over the vacation choices of the First Lady.  If you haven’t heard by now, First Lady Michelle Obama has been a rather regal vacation – costing over $375,000 (plus another $75,000 in taxpayer funds) – to spend a week with her daughter and forty of her closest friends in Spain.

What is she teaching us?

First, she is teaching us a little about Lord Acton’s quote that “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. Since that night in Grant Park where Americans were witness to and victims of a coronation, the Obamas have assumed power and the trappings of power with hubris and arrogance.  A $375,000 vacation is not the act of humble and gracious leaders setting an example for how we should comport ourselves during the worst recession this nation has seen in thirty years, with massively exploding deficits, a recorded 9.5% unemployment rate (compared to a project 17% actual unemployment rate), companies and individuals hording cash and state governments on the brink of fiscal collapse.

Second, she is teaching us a lot about putting our faith in men and women.  “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”, and while some felching liberal journalists would like to acclaim Barack H. Obama as the heralded second coming of Christ (or at least the equivalent), the fact is that even the President of the United States and his wife are imperfect and imbued with the stain of original sin.  Instead of affecting true change and leading, this most disgusting of couples have assumed a regal air, ignoring the needs, hopes, dreams and fears of the people that Barack H. Obama was elected to lead.

Third, she is teaching us about the hypocrisy so ever-present in the effect liberal elites of our day.  While her husband regularly takes the time to trot out the old Marxist tropes of class warfare – pitting the “poor” against the “rich”, she and her husband act as modern day Vanderbilts and Rockerfellers, choosing to “holiday” in the homes and dens of the uber-wealthy elites of American and Europe.  As he castigates and scolds businesses for their choices in compensation, benefits, and rewards for managers, the Obama family makes profligate use of government resources for their own personal wants and desires.  Somewhere in the White House, there is list of Obama Rules.  Rule #1, just like all good Alinskyites is “Do as I say, not as I do”.  Because some pigs are indeed, more equal than others.

What is she not teaching us?

She is failing to teach – in the most teachable of moments – how families can still afford enjoyable vacations and time together, even on a budget.

She is failing to teach us about all the great places that everyday working American families can and do enjoy (often on a budget).  Like our beautiful National Park system, from Assateague Island to Shenandoah National Forest to the Grand Tetons to Yosemite and beyond.   Or our gorgeous and  expertly-staffed National Battlefields like Gettysburg, Antietam, Bull Run, Appomattox, and more.  Or the eclectic and varying display of Americana found along of highways and bi-ways of the midwest and the plains states.  What a glorious opportunity is missed to set an example to teach your family of America’s history by vacationing in America!

She is failing to teach us how those of us who can afford to vacation can use our means to support the vast communities across this country that are struggling under the burden of massive debt, massive unemployment, massive tax revenue decreases and just … well, massive pain.  There are struggling small businesses all across America aching for the dollars from tourism, from the shops and museums in Strasburg and Lancaster, PA, to the stores and craft shops around Lake Wallenpaupack and the Finger Lakes.

And she is failing to teach the great lesson of family vacations: it’s not where you go, but who you go with that makes the memories that become the stories around the dinner table a generation hence.

But This President and His Wife are not about teaching.  They are about dictating.  They are about control.  Ultimately, they are about tyranny.  The tyranny of the effect liberal elitist, who won’t rub elbows or share a diner booth with great unwashed mass of Americans that pay taxes.  The same taxes that pay for the Special Missions Wing, for the fuel for the airplanes, for the butlers and chefs and Secret Service agents that staff the White House.

And thus, the example we get from this family is that America does not matter.  Its people do not matter. Its places do not matter.  Its values do not matter.  And when vast numbers of Americans are suffering and in pain from economic trial and misery brought about by massive governmental stupidity, Americans don’t matter much either.

Rage

by gunpowderchronicle 5. July 2010 01:31

I feel nothing but unfettered rage for the President of the United States.  I know that doesn’t surprise many people, because I have always felt that Barack Hussein Obama didn’t have the experience to run a simple snow-ball stand.  I think his mishandling of the recession, the budget, the deficit, the oil spill, and the attempted and real terrorist attacks on the United States since he took office are evidence enough that he is nothing more than – as Herb Brooks once said -- “a monkey humping a football”.

But after reading these two columns (column1 | column2) by Chuck Norris at Human Events Online,  about the President’s utter lack of respect for the Boy Scouts of America as its Honorary President, I feel pure, unbridled rage.

Since William Howard Taft in 1910, every United States President has been the Honorary President of the Boy Scouts of America.  This is unique among youth organizations in the United States of America, as the Boy Scouts remain the only youth organization chartered by Congress.  For any President, the position of Honorary President should be regarded as an honor, a duty, and a privilege.

But not for this President.  No, this President who only makes political calculations when making choices has decided that the Boy Scouts’ decision to deny membership or leadership roles to openly homosexual boys an men is just too hot to handle.

Fine.  He has a disagreement with a private organization on its membership requirements and regulations.  That is fair.  Many people do, including Eagle Scout Steven Spielberg.

But the honorable thing to do in that instance would be to not accept the titular position of Honorary President of the Boy Scouts of America.  Of course, such a decision would require conviction, courage, and honor, three attributes which evade this president every day of his life.

This President should know that THIS Eagle Scout is enraged at him for such an action.  I am enraged at his slights and his ignorance.  His lack of character.  His deficit in understanding his duty.  His determinant lack of honor that seems to pervade every word and action.

His actions in now way reflect proper deference and due respect to the Scout Oath and Law, which as the Honorary President I would expect him to know and agree to abide by.  His further insult to the Boy Scouts of America – documented eloquently by Chuck Norris – shows that THIS President lacks character, honor, and sense of duty.

He should resign from the position, or he should embrace it fully.  His approach in no way exemplifies the Scout motto of “Do Your Best.”.

Boy Scouts are Smarter Than the President

by gunpowderchronicle 1. June 2010 00:58

So a Boy Scout, the Pope, and President Obama are riding on Air Force One back from a meeting with the Russians, when terrorists masquerading as Russian journalists hijack the plane and kill all the Secret Service Agents.

The Boy Scout, the Pope, and the President are standing on the back cargo door, and the wind is howling, and the President realizes there are only two parachutes.  He turns to the Boy Scout and the Pope, adjusts his portable teleprompter,  and he says:

“I… am… the most important man in the world.  I am the first black President. The sweet dulcet tones have entranced an entire nation – no, an entire world – in a way that no one has since that commercial with the song “I’d like to buy the world a coke”.  I am the smartest black man that has ever lived, because I fooled—oops, I convinced – an entire nation to elect me to the most powerful office in free world, despite the fact that I had less experience than little Polly Prissy Pants running her lemonade stand.”

“Some may say I am being selfish.  They would cry out No!  No to change, no to hope, no to the future.  But I can not let it be.  I must have one of these parachutes.”

With that, the President grabs a parachute off the floor, puts it on, and jumps out the back of the plane.

The Pope turns to the Boy Scout and says, “Young man, you are the future.  You have a long life ahead of you.  You take the second parachute.”

The Boy Scout turns to the Pope, and says, “Your Holiness, let not your heart be troubled.  The smartest black man that ever lived just took my rucksack.”

Obama’s Oratory Does Not Match His Actions

by gunpowderchronicle 3. January 2010 23:54

President Obama is under fire for the failures of his administration in the events surrounding Flight 253.  He is taking particularly well-aimed fire from former Vice President Richard B. Cheney.  In response, our esteemed president quoted his inaugural address:

On that day, I made it very clear our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred, and that we will do whatever it takes to defeat them. . . . And make no mistake, that's exactly what we've been doing.

Which is a great bit of rhetoric.  Not quite as soaring as Churchill’s soaring oratory and firm conviction before the House of Commons on 13 May 1940:

I say to the House as I said to ministers who have joined this government, I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many months of struggle and suffering.

But all our President gave us “on that day” was soaring rhetoric unmatched by soaring actions.

The President has allowed a policy change at the Department of Homeland Security, put in place by the miserable hack failure Janet Napolitano, that declares that terrorism is a “man-caused disaster”.

Instead of promising policies for victory, he has promised deadlines for withdrawl.

He allowed a policy change in his Department of Justice that now treats war criminals and captured terrorists as criminal defendants subject to all of the protections of the Constitution, instead of as enemy prisoners of war.

He is transferring dangerous terrorists and other war criminals from a safe (and America’s most advanced) prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to a former state prison facility that will take nearly two years to “re-secure”, and by virtue of that transfer, places them safely in the jurisdiction of Federal judges and beyond the reach of appropriate military commissions.

He has negotiated with terrorists and terrorist-sponsoring states like Iran, providing Iran the wiggle-room and the time to further their efforts to design, develop, and deploy a nuclear arsenal.

Where in all of that is “doing whatever it takes to defeat them”?

Once again, his teleprompter prowess fails to be met with action.

The British Press Gets It, Ours Doesn’t.

by gunpowderchronicle 30. December 2009 22:30

From Toby Harnden’s column in The Daily Telegraph:

There is no more solemn duty for an American commander-in-chief than the marshalling of  “every element of our national power” – the phrase Obama himself used on Monday – to protect the people of the United States. In that key respect, Obama failed on Christmas Day, just as President George W. Bush failed on September 11th (though he succeeded in the seven years after that).

Yes, the buck stops in the Oval Office. Obama may have rather smugly given himself a “B+” for his 2009 performance but he gets an F for the events that led to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab boarding a Detroit-bound plane in Amsterdam with a PETN bomb sewn into his underpants.  He said today that a “systemic failure has occurred”. Well, he’s in charge of that system.

Make sure you read the whole thing.  This Brit gets the problem even more clearly than our fetid press, who are either still trying to cover for The Pretender, or hiding in shame for their own inability to do their jobs.

As I said in the late fall of 2008, there are two kinds of people in the United States:  those that remember the Jimmy Carter presidency, and those that are about to experience it.

Barack Obama, the Un-American President

by gunpowderchronicle 28. December 2009 10:50

President Barack Obama is a traitor.  Period.  He has, with the flourish of a pen, signed an executive order granting INTERPOL – an organization once flush with Nazis and headed by Reinhard Heydrich (author of the Wansee Protocol, the actual document declaring the “Final Solution”) – rights on American soil that that place it beyond the reach of our own law enforcement agencies and outside the Constituional regulations that protect American citizens.

As Andy McCarthy at NRO has noted:

This international police force (whose U.S. headquarters is in the Justice Department in Washington) will be unrestrained by the U.S. Constitution and American law while it operates in the United States and affects both Americans and American interests outside the United States.

That means a US serviceman could be charged with a war crime, arrested by INTERPOL on US soil, and denied each and every Constitutional protection they fought and bled to defend.  The right to an attorney, protections against unreasonable search and seizure, the right to a speedy trial, a jury by a trial of their peers, etc.  Forget about his Article 32 rights under the UCMJ, too.  All of these are gone.

There are and would be no restraints against what INTERPOL could do.  No judicial intervention or review.  Nothing. Nada. Zip.  Short of a governor or local LEO (law enforcement officer) willing to order his own police into an armed confrontation with INTERPOL agents, there is nothing that would stop INTERPOL from arresting a US citizen and transporting them to places unknown for whatever trial might be in the offing.

Such an act as signing this executive order surrenders US sovereignty is a blatant and horrendous – abominable – violation of his oath of office.

This is why  you shouldn’t elect second-rate political hacks with mob ties and daddy issues.

Where’s The President?

by gunpowderchronicle 27. December 2009 00:38

It’s been 48 hours since the famed “underwear bomber”, who in all his sophistication of building a gonad bomb was able to evade airline security searches, board a plane sans passport, all while on a watch list and purchasing a one-way ticket with cash, committed an act of terrorism in the skies over Michigan.  Yet we have not heard from the President of the United States yet?

Yes, the same man who could not help but interject himself into a local issue in Boston and turn it into a racial bon mot complete with beer with in the Rose Garden.

The same man who could never resist holding a press conference to discuss the great national concern over everything including the bezel color on his new teleprompter.

Yet the nation has been attacked, on a US-flag airline, over US soil, by a member of one Nigeria’s elite families, and the President is nowhere to be found. So where is he?

Playing golf.

Those of you who actually watched all of Farenheit 911 might recall that fat slobosaurus and whiny little prag Michael Moore mocked President Bush for responding to a reporter’s question about a terrorist attack in another country while on a golf course.  So where is the Poster Child for Banning Super Sized Meals on President Hopeychange?

Hey, Mr. President, maybe they didn’t teach this to you at your fancy Ivy League schools, or your ACORN community organizer training class, but it’s called leadership.  It’s called being out front.

Right now, you are more like the French elitist who says “I must find out where my people are going, so I can lead them.”

“Special Interests” Are Blocking Health Care Reform?

by gunpowderchronicle 21. December 2009 00:27

The mantra from the left is that special interest groups in the health care industry are responsible for blocking health care reform in Congress by paying and organizing “right wing” groups in an attempt to “astro-turf” the issue.

The problem is, that is one big fat lie.  Make sure you read “Obama Buys the News” by the National Center for Public Policy Research.  Yes, they are a right of center group.  But this article, by Matt Patterson (no relation, I think) contains FACTS, not FICTION.

Salient Paragraph #1:

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is one of the largest lobbying and trade organizations of drug manufacturers in the United States.10  Billy Tauzin, president and CEO of PhRMA,11 has claimed that earlier this year he made a sweet deal with the White House on behalf of his drug companies:12 In return for "political and financial support for the President's health care initiative,"13 the President "wouldn't try to overturn the very Medicare drug policy that Obama had criticized on the campaign trail,"14 according to the Los Angeles Times.  Tauzin is not coy about this deal: "The White House blessed it," he said emphatically.15

Please note that Billy Tauzin used to be a Republican.  A pretty conservative one at that.

Salient Paragraph #2:

In July, 173 of 326 commercials, or 53 percent, were PhRMA company advertisements.  In August, 176 of 321 commercials, or 54.8 percent, were PhRMA.  In September, 156 of 293, or 53.24 percent, were PhRMA commercials.  Of the eight days in October analyzed, 45 out of 80 commercials, or 56.25 percent, were PhRMA company ads.

Salient Paragraph #3:

The grand total?  In the 98 days of ABC World News programming analyzed from June to October, the broadcast featured 1,102 commercials, 597 of which were PhRMA member company advertisements, representing 54.17 percent of total commercials aired.

And let’s not forget that ABC denied the organization Conservatives for Patients’ Rights the opportunity to purchase advertising during the Obama infomercial on June 24, 2009, all the while as ABC News Senior Vice President Kerry Smith said, “ABC News is looking for the most thoughtful and diverse voices on this issue”.

Diversity?  Not on your life.
